Introduction

Gangs have been around for several decades, connecting groups of people as a community and evoking hatred in their eyes. Blood thurst being passed down from veterans of gangs to the recruits, revenge being so washed down that the members do not even remember why they started fighting with other gangs. Gangs brainwash young recruits to believe they could be rich, have a better life, and be safe in the gang; but its all a lie. Our social Justice Project revolves around gangs and how people are brought into this lifestyle. Is it the communites fault that gangs prevail among young teens, or is it the individuals fault? How can we help as a community to suppress gang membership?

Our Social Justice Project focuses on gang life and how people get tied into violence and isolation leading them to a life of horror and disappointment. The Catholic Church focuses on building knowledge through faith and learning from society. The Church strives to provide wisdom and guidance so that others can strive and persevere in a life of peace and Catholic social tradition.

Life and Dignity of the Human Person
Human life is extremely sacred and life should be respected by all people. Respecting human life is a priority that all people should engage in and is the basis in social teaching. Human life is threatened by the death penalty and as members of the Church feel that this is wrong because life is sacred. All people have the right to have a fair chance and life and this should be honored and protected.



Call to Family, Community, and Participation
A person should contribute to their community by spreading peace and wisdom to others. We believe that a person is obligated to spread social teaching to others in their goal to create peace and wisdom. It is most important to become social with the poor and vulnerable because they are need of this the most.





Rights and Responsibilities
Human life can be protected by all people of the world. If human life can be protected than we have fulfilled our responsibilities of life. Everyone has a right to life and a right to choose how they live their life. By fulfilling our responsibilities than society and become one and peaceful.








Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
The poor and vulnerable must be put first in order to create a better world. By spreading wisdom and offering support to these people than we have passed the basic test of life.









The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
The dignity of work must be protected. The economy must serve the people. We all have the right to work and contribute to society. It is all peoples rights to be able to provide and support their families through work and fair wages.






Solidarity
We are all brothers and sisters no matter where we live. We are all one family no matter our color, background, or lifestyle. Learning to practice this and follow this will create a loving neighborhood of people.






Care for God’s Creation
We must show respect for everything our creator has made because we all share this world with other gifts that God has made. We are called to protect our world and the people in it. This challenge cannot be ignored.
